Eighteen holes, par 71, 6,275 yards. Pro shop, snack bar, restaurant.
- Maple Moor, beginning to end, can push golfers to use all 14 clubs and all utilize every swing thought they’ve retained. Players encounter challenges that stretch length, tilt sidehill approaches, confront risk-reward decisions and assess excessive breaks on many of these moderately-sized back-to-front sloped greens.
- Perhaps the key is being able to handle Maple Moor’s demanding opening holes. Right-handed players who favor a draw, beware. Out of bounds comes into play on six of the opening nine, mainly on the left side.
- Maple Moor is a walker-friendly course. Golfers walking off the fifth and 14th greens are greeted by a Maple Moor staple Caddy Shack where plenty of food for energy awaits.
- All in the Family. The course’s head professional is Tom Avezzano Jr., who is in his 12th year and whose father Tom Avezzano Sr. has been the head professional at Sprain Lake Golf Course since 1975. Tom Avezzano Jr.’s younger brother is Mike, an assistant at Sprain Lake.
