North Salem
Located in the northernmost part of Westchester County and containing nearly as many horses as people, North Salem is an ideal get-away for any equestrian enthusiast, especially due to the Old Salem Farm, a nationally renowned venue of equestrian competitions that is home to the American Gold Cup.
Known for its unusual landmark, “Balanced Rock,” a boulder that weighs 60 tons balanced upon five limestone rocks, North Salem is home to three charming hamlets: Purdys, Croton Falls and Salem Center.

- Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden, a place of natural beauty and tranquility, where aspects of Eastern and Western culture can be appreciated through art exhibitions, concerts, special events and educational programs.
- Sal J. Prezioso Mountain Lakes Park, characterized by a rugged landscape and native hardwood forests, rock outcroppings, meandering streams, beautiful views, the highest mountain in Westchester County and quiet trails. Aptly named, the park boasts five lakes and a spectacular overlook that makes for breathtaking hiking destinations.
- Lift Truck Project: Unique art gallery featuring Tom Christopher who is known across the globe for his cityscapes of Manhattan. His paintings are in the collections of such noted organizations as CBS, the Museum of the City of New York, and Time Warner.
- School House Theater
- The 9-hole Pehquenakonck golf course at the semi-private Pehquenakonck Country Club features 2,012 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 33.
- Titicus Reservoir, a popular spot for fishing and ice fishing.
